Singapore announces use of open-source PCR test result tracker

As of 10 March, travelers from Singapore will have to use an open-source COVID-test result tracker instead of paper certificates to prove negative test results. This tracker is called HealthCert, an open-source framework that uses blockchain to provide cryptographically secure documents.

When travelers have taken the PCR test, their results will be uploaded to a government website and authenticated by the Ministry of Health. If approved, a QR code that links to the digital document will appear in SingPass Mobile, the nation's application for accessing digital government services.

Singapore’s Smart Nation and Digital Government Office (SNDGO) discloses that they will partner with private sector initiatives to create interoperable solutions and ensures that the technology is secure, protects privacy and is tamper-proof.
