The last two years were challenging for the manufacturing industry. 1 The pandemic was a wake-up call for many manufacturers to accelerate their digitalisation. However, doing so raises a question: “How to share data while keeping control over the data?”
The International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) recently published a position paper: ‘Data Sovereignty – Requirements Analysis of Manufacturing Use Cases’, answering this question. The paper analyses, by following a use case driven approach, how the increasing digitisation in the manufacturing industry developed and answers the question: How to share data between companies for joint businesses in a secure and interoperable way?
IDSA argues that, for the manufacturing industry, anonymisation of data is of low priority. And, it is highly important to classify data before implementing or designing a data sharing infrastructure. Want to know more about the types of classifications or which other requirements are important? Read the full paper.
