Secure data sharing

In many instances, the feasibility of sharing data depends crucially on whether data can also be shared securely. In this technical guidance, we therefore explore the most important considerations and practical recommendations on secure data sharing.

Our guide builds on well-established, state of the art standards and best practices from thought-leading bodies, such as ISO, ENISA, and OWASP. These bodies have issued a multitude of security-related recommendations that are not just relevant to IT-security, but should be adopted specifically in data-sharing scenarios. How this can be done is the subject of this guide.

The guide was written by Dr. Kyriakos Stefanidis and Tomas Kusber (both Fraunhofer FOKUS). We were kindly supported by a group of expert reviewers, including Adrian Belmonte (ENISA), Nicolas Castellon (Capgemini), Prof. Christos Douligeris (University of Piraeus), Dr. Leire Orue-Echevarria Arrieta (TECNALIA), and Prof. Dimitrios Serpanos (University of Patras).
