Data sharing helps London authorities in tackling the COVID-19 crisis

The Alan Turing Institute, the national center for data science and artificial intelligence in the United Kingdom, and the London Data Commission and City Hall have joined forces in tackling the COVID-19 crisis. 

Together they launched the Odysseus project to collect behavioral information from existing open datasets. In doing so, they aimed to support London authorities during and after lockdown in coordinating their efforts. By using data from traffic-monitoring video's from transport agencies, weather and socioeconomic data, they were able to measure the city’s busyness and gauge the response from citizens to government interventions.
