The European Commission has urged telecom providers to share (anonymised) data in order to map and curb the spread of the coronavirus in Europe. The European Commission will use this data to make more accurate estimates of the spread of the virus in order to improve the quick response and relieve the burden on healthcare systems. The GDPR also applies for the sharing of this data.
